The Punjab Government will establish an Advanced Horticulture Technology Development Centre at Ladhowal to promote large-scale horticulture adoption among farmers and boost their income.

Horticulture Minister Mohinder Bhagat announced the project while inaugurating a State-Level Seminar-cum-Exhibition organised by the Department of Horticulture. He said the new centre will act as a one-stop hub where farmers can learn modern cultivation techniques for fruits, vegetables and flowers through live demonstrations and hands-on training.

Bhagat told hundreds of farmers that the Punjab government, led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, is committed to shifting farmers from the wheat-paddy cycle to high-value horticulture crops. He said horticulture has the potential to double farmers' income in a short time and added that the new centre will play a key role in that transformation.

The Minister urged farmers to diversify without hesitation and assured full departmental support. He interacted directly with farmers, heard their concerns and instructed officials to address issues immediately. He also visited all stalls and inspected the infrastructure being developed at the Ladhowal site.

Director Horticulture Shailinder Kaur said the department is ready to provide financial assistance through various schemes including the Horticulture Mission and RKVY. She stressed the importance of lowering input costs through precision and digital technologies.

The exhibition featured live demonstrations, including GPS-based auto-steering technology showcased by Topcon Company, which highlighted savings in fuel, seeds and fertilizers. Hygroxis Humidia Lab Pvt. Ltd. demonstrated instant digital soil testing and on-the-spot Soil Health Card generation.

Senior officers including Dr. Harmel Singh, Dr. Gursharan Singh, Dr. Harpreet Singh Sethi, Dr. Dalbir Singh, Dr. Vijay Partap, Dr. Nikhil Ambish Mehta, Dr. Gurpreet Kaur, Dr. Navjot Kaur, Dr. Shaili Sandhu and Jaspreet Kaur Gill were also present.
