Deputy Commissioner Himanshu Jain, I.A.S., on Friday inaugurated a newly established Weightlifting Training Centre at Guru Nanak Stadium, marking a significant step by the district administration to promote sports and provide structured training facilities for young weightlifters in the district.

The centre has been set up to offer a safe and disciplined training environment where aspiring athletes can develop strength, technique, and competitive skills under proper guidance. The initiative aims to nurture talent from the grassroots level and help young sportspersons progress to higher levels of competition, reflecting the administration’s focus on youth development and physical fitness.

During his interaction with trainees and coaches, the Deputy Commissioner praised the commitment and hard work of the athletes. He urged them to train with dedication, maintain discipline, and uphold sportsmanship, stressing that perseverance and fitness play a vital role in building a successful sporting career.

The inauguration ceremony was attended by Ambar Bandopadhyay (CGO), Kuldeep Chugh (DSO), Aditya Kumar Yadav (Governance Associate), along with coaches and trainees. The enthusiastic participation of athletes highlighted the growing interest in weightlifting and strength sports across the district.

With the launch of the Weightlifting Training Centre, the district administration has reinforced its commitment to strengthening sports infrastructure and creating meaningful opportunities for youth, aiming to build a healthier and more confident sporting community in Ludhiana.
