69th National School Games Kick Off in Ludhiana from January 6 to 11

Ludhiana will welcome over 3,000 young athletes from all across India as it prepares to host the 69th National School Games from January 6 to 11. The event will feature competitions in Taekwondo, Judo, and Gatka, drawing participants from states, Union Territories, and reputed school organizations.
Additional Deputy Commissioner Rakesh Kumar directed officials on Friday to ensure all arrangements are thoroughly planned and executed for the games. He emphasized the importance of providing adequate accommodation, food, security, medical support, and transportation to avoid any inconvenience for players and officials.
The participants, representing Kendriya Vidyalayas, Navodaya Vidyalayas, Vidya Bharti Schools, and others, will compete in Taekwondo (under-14 girls), Judo (under-14 boys and girls), and Gatka (under-19 boys and girls). Matches will be held at multiple venues including the Government Senior Secondary Smart School (PAU), Open Air Theatre (PAU), and BCM School.
To maintain safety, Kumar instructed the installation of CCTV cameras at all venues and deployment of Police Control Room teams to ensure robust security during the event.
Kumar also urged collaboration between the education and sports departments and requested senior officials to personally oversee the logistics related to accommodation and travel. He highlighted that the games provide a valuable platform for emerging athletes to showcase their skills.
Officials present at the meeting included Assistant Commissioners Dr. Pragati Verma and Payal Goyal, MC Assistant Commissioner Jasdev Singh Sekhon, District Education Officer Dimple Madaan, District Sports Officer Kuldeep Chugh, and others.
