Cabinet Ministers Hardeep Singh Mundian and Tarunpreet Singh Sond inaugurated the newly established Block Development and Panchayat Officer (BDPO) office in Sri Bhaini Sahib this Friday to streamline administrative services for the Koom Kalan block. The ministers opened the facility in the presence of local officials and residents, marking a shift toward decentralized governance in the Ludhiana district.

Minister Hardeep Singh Mundian, who also serves as the Sahnewal MLA, stated that the new office fulfills a long-standing need for local panchayats who previously traveled to Ludhiana for routine works. He directed BDPO Rajwinder Singh to expedite all pending development projects within the block to ensure timely completion. Mundian also confirmed that the state government has sanctioned Rs 13 crore specifically for the sewerage system in Sri Bhaini Sahib.

Cabinet Minister Tarunpreet Singh Sond explained that the reorganization of blocks ensures that villages receive proper funding and administrative attention. He noted that many villages were previously neglected due to being part of oversized blocks, a gap that the current administration is actively closing. Sond emphasized that the new office brings government schemes directly to the doorsteps of rural residents.

The ministers highlighted several ongoing welfare initiatives, including free 24-hour electricity and the Rs 10 lakh health card for medical relief. They also announced a new financial assistance scheme for women, scheduled to launch on April 13 during the Vaisakhi celebrations. This scheme will provide monthly grants of Rs 1000 and Rs 1500 to eligible beneficiaries across the state.

Block Samiti Koom Kalan Chairman Gurpreet Singh Gopi welcomed the ministers and assured them of the office's commitment to public service. He pledged that all administrative tasks and development projects handled by the new BDPO office would be executed within stipulated timelines to benefit the sacred land of Sri Bhaini Sahib.
