Punjab Rural Development and Panchayats Minister Tarunpreet Singh Sond spearheaded a significant infrastructure drive in Ishanpur village on Monday, laying foundation stones for a suite of projects including a new public park, boundary walls, and the paving of streets with interlocking tiles.

The Minister’s visit marks a decisive step in the state government's broader mission to revitalize rural Punjab by addressing long-standing gaps in sports infrastructure and environmental sanitation. Minister Sond explained that the initiative is designed to provide village youth with constructive outlets, directly supporting the administration's vision of a "Drug-Free Punjab."

During the ceremony, Sond criticized previous administrations for neglecting village sports grounds and the maintenance of local water bodies. He announced an ambitious state-wide target to either construct new sports facilities or upgrade existing grounds in every village across Punjab, ensuring children have safe, green spaces to compete and grow.

Beyond athletics, the Minister highlighted a first-of-its-kind large-scale de-watering and de-silting operation currently targeting all ponds and water bodies in the state. This project aims to transform stagnant village ponds into clean, viable water sources specifically for use in local farming and irrigation.

The event, attended by Chairman of the Market Committee Khanna Jagtar Singh Gill Ratnaheri and other local officials, concluded with Ishanpur residents expressing their gratitude to the Minister. Local leaders noted that the commencement of these works fulfills a key promise to deliver essential modern facilities to the rural population.
