The Municipal Corporation (MC) Ludhiana has got the road leading to Gurdwara Dukhniwaran Sahib reconstructed after Senior Deputy Mayor Rakesh Prashar raised objections over the poor quality of the earlier construction work.
The road connecting Bearing Market near Jagraon Bridge to the gurdwara was reconstructed a few months ago at an estimated cost of around ₹80 lakh. However, a complaint regarding the quality of the work was received at the office of the Senior Deputy Mayor, following which the civic body conducted an inspection of the site.
After verifying the complaint, the Municipal Corporation directed the contractor to reconstruct the road to ensure proper quality standards. On Wednesday, Senior Deputy Mayor Rakesh Prashar visited the site again and inspected the ongoing work to review the quality of reconstruction.
Prashar said the state government led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann is committed to the overall and sustainable development of the state and that authorities are closely monitoring development works in the city.
He added that no laxity would be tolerated in maintaining the quality of civic projects and strict action would be taken against contractors found responsible for substandard work.
Prashar further said he had also received a complaint regarding poor quality work in the road reconstruction project outside Gurdwara Kalgidhar Sahib. The contractor has been directed to reconstruct that road as well and the work is expected to be completed soon.
He said the civic body is undertaking development projects worth crores in the city and will ensure that public funds collected from taxpayers are utilised properly without being wasted on poor quality works.
