The Punjab government has announced the ‘Mukh Mantri Mavan Dhiyan Satkar Scheme’, under which adult women in the state will receive monthly financial assistance. The announcement was made in the state budget on the occasion of International Women’s Day, fulfilling a major election promise of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP)-led government.

Under the scheme, women belonging to Scheduled Castes will receive ₹1,500 per month, while other adult women will receive ₹1,000 per month. The government will transfer the amount directly to the beneficiaries’ bank accounts.

Ludhiana Mayor Principal Inderjit Kaur welcomed the decision and congratulated the residents, stating that AAP, led by National Convenor Arvind Kejriwal and Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, has fulfilled a key promise made to women in Punjab.

Following the announcement, celebrations were held in the city as residents expressed happiness by dancing to dhol beats and showering flowers. Mayor Inderjit Kaur said the scheme has brought a wave of happiness among women across the state.

She added that around 97 percent of adult women in Punjab are expected to benefit from the initiative. The scheme aims to make women financially self-reliant, improve their health and nutrition standards, and help daughters continue their education and achieve their aspirations.

Mayor Inderjit Kaur also congratulated women on International Women’s Day and said the state government will continue working for the welfare and betterment of society.
