MLA Jiwan Singh Sangowal administered the oath of office to 260 newly elected members of the Zila Parishad and 12 Panchayati Samitis during a state-level ceremony at Guru Nanak Dev Bhawan on Friday. The event marked the official commencement of duties for these local representatives, whom the MLA charged with spearheading a new era of "unprecedented development" across the villages of Ludhiana district.
Addressing the gathered members, Sangowal emphasized that the success of Punjab’s high-growth initiatives hinges on the active contribution of local leadership. He urged the representatives to work in close coordination with the state government to ensure that the benefits of rural prosperity reach every resident. Beyond physical infrastructure, he called for a focus on social stability, asking the members to prioritize communal harmony and brotherhood within their respective jurisdictions.
The MLA underscored the urgency of their roles, instructing the members to immediately begin addressing public aspirations and streamlining service delivery at the grassroots level. He pledged his full support for these efforts, noting that the state has already set a strong foundation through major reforms in the education and health sectors. He highlighted the establishment of state-of-the-art infrastructure in government schools and hospitals as evidence of the government's commitment to quality public service.
Turning to the broader achievements of the AAP administration, Sangowal cited the creation of over 63,000 government jobs through a transparent recruitment process as a milestone for the state’s youth. He also pointed to the Khedan Watan Punjab Diyan program as a vital tool for steering the younger generation toward sports and healthy lifestyles. These initiatives, he argued, provide the necessary momentum for the newly elected members to drive holistic growth in their villages.
Additional Deputy Commissioner (Rural Development) Dr. Narinder Singh Dhaliwal also spoke during the session, reinforcing the need for dedicated service. He encouraged the officials to view their positions as a mandate for total village transformation, ensuring that developmental projects are executed with integrity and long-term vision.
