Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) National Convenor Arvind Kejriwal on Thursday announced that the Punjab Government will launch a full-scale war against gangsters and their networks, on the lines of the ongoing anti-drug campaign ‘Yudh Nashean Virudh’, asserting that all gangsters operating in Punjab will be eliminated.

Addressing newly elected Zila Parishad and Block Samiti members at Ludhiana today , Arvind Kejriwal said that Punjab has decisively rejected the politics of fear, coercion and manipulated elections, choosing instead the politics of honest governance, development and public participation.

Citing AAP’s victory in over 70 percent seats in the Panchayat elections, Kejriwal said Punjab had witnessed the cleanest local body elections in its history, with not even a single vote being shifted. He added that the results reflected people’s trust in AAP’s governance model rather than any misuse of power.

Recalling past regimes, Kejriwal said Panchayat elections earlier were marked by booth capturing, goondagardi and false cases under Congress and Akali rule. “Despite being four years into power, we conducted elections without any coercion. Opposition candidates won several seats by margins as narrow as one vote—something unheard of earlier,” he said.

Highlighting governance reforms, Kejriwal said timely payment of salaries, free electricity with zero bills, waiver of old power dues, improved roads and transparent recruitment had restored public confidence. “Earlier, people received electricity bills of ₹10,000 even with minimal usage. Today, households are getting zero bills. This is the vote for honesty and good governance,” he said.

On employment, he said over 60,000 government jobs have been provided purely on merit without bribery or recommendations. “Children of farmers and labourers are now entering police and administration through fair recruitment,” he added.

Talking about infrastructure, Kejriwal said nearly 19,000 km of village roads are being constructed and 42,000 km of Punjab’s 64,000 km road network is under development and will be completed within six months.

Referring to the anti-drug drive, he said more than 28,000 cases have been registered and over 400 major drug traffickers are behind bars. He announced the second phase of ‘Yudh Nashean Virudh’, urging party workers to take the message door to door.

Issuing a call to party cadres, Kejriwal set a target of 45 percent vote share, warning against arrogance and corruption. “Serve people with humility. If arrogance enters, political life will end. But those who work honestly can rise from villages to become MLAs, ministers—even Chief Minister,” he said.

Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann said AAP’s governance has forced traditional parties to rewrite their manifestos, bringing education, health and electricity to the centre of political discourse. Senior AAP leader Manish Sisodia assured full government support for rural development, stating there would be no shortage of funds.
