MP Rajinder Gupta Meets FM Nirmala Sitharaman, Discusses Economic Growth

Rajya Sabha Member and Padma Shri awardee Rajinder Gupta on Tuesday met Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman in the national capital and held detailed discussions on the country’s economic progress, industrial development and challenges faced by the textile sector.
Rajinder Gupta, who is also the founder of the Trident Group, briefed the Finance Minister on the prevailing economic situation and the industrial environment, with special reference to Punjab and North India. He appreciated the economic reforms undertaken by the central government and said that initiatives aimed at improving the ease of doing business have strengthened industry confidence despite global uncertainties.
During the meeting, Gupta highlighted key concerns of the textile industry and shared suggestions to enhance its global competitiveness. He stressed the need for better availability of raw materials, stronger export incentive mechanisms and improved financial support for micro, small and medium enterprises, stating that these measures would help Indian manufacturers expand their global footprint.
The Rajya Sabha MP expressed confidence that flagship initiatives such as Make in India and Atmanirbhar Bharat would play a crucial role in transforming India into a global manufacturing hub. He also spoke about the importance of sustained policy support to ensure long-term industrial growth and employment generation.
Finance Minister Sitharaman listened to the views put forward by Gupta and assured him that the government remains committed to addressing industry-related issues through growth-oriented policies. The discussion also touched upon measures aimed at strengthening the middle class and boosting the rural economy.
Gupta also briefly informed the Finance Minister about various social welfare and development initiatives being undertaken through the Trident Group, particularly in the areas of skill development and women empowerment. At the end of the meeting, he thanked the Finance Minister for her time and reiterated his optimism about the country’s economic future.
