Newly elected Aam Aadmi Party MP and renowned industrialist Rajinder Gupta met Defence Minister Rajnath Singh in New Delhi today (December 5), and called for immediate steps to strengthen the security apparatus in Punjab amid rising border and internal security concerns. The meeting holds substantial importance given the state’s strategic location along the international border.
Gupta, a first-generation entrepreneur and Chairman Emeritus of the Trident Group, emphasized to the Minister that Punjab’s sensitive geographical position necessitates enhanced protection from a national security perspective.
During the high-level interaction, the two leaders discussed the prevailing security challenges in Punjab and agreed on strengthening the role and effectiveness of the armed forces in the region. Gupta specifically stressed the need to improve operational coordination between central security agencies and the Punjab Police, advocate the adoption of modern surveillance systems, and further bolster border management.
Responding to these concerns, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh assured that the central government remains fully committed to reinforcing border security and maintaining law and order in sensitive states. He confirmed that efforts will be made to make deployment, monitoring systems, and the use of advanced equipment by the armed forces in Punjab more effective.
Following the discussion, MP Rajinder Gupta stated that maintaining peace and stability in Punjab is vital not only for the state but also for the country’s overall security. He expressed confidence that with coordinated efforts between the central and state governments, the security framework in Punjab will become significantly stronger, fostering greater trust and a sense of stability among citizens. Both sides unanimously agreed on enhancing the effectiveness of the armed forces to ensure the safety and security of the state and the nation.
