In a significant organisational development for the regional unit of the Indian National Congress, former MLA Kulbir Singh Zira has been re-appointed as the District President of the Congress Party’s Ferozepur unit. Representing the Zira constituency in the past, Zira takes on the leadership role at a crucial time for the party in the district.

In a message posted on social media, Zira extended his heartfelt thanks to national-level and state‐level senior Congress leadership, including Rahul Gandhi, K.C. Venugopal, Bhupesh Baghel, Ravinder Dalvi, Amarinder Singh Raja Warring, Pratap Singh Bajwa, Charanjit Singh Channi and Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa. He acknowledged their confidence in him for a second term as district party president.

Furthermore, he pledged to uphold that trust by mobilising party workers across Ferozepur district, strengthening the party’s presence in every public welfare front, and taking the Congress ideology to every household. A key part of his message is the emphasis on uniting party workers, rejuvenating grassroots participation, and focusing on people’s welfare and social justice.

Given the electoral landscape of Zira constituency and its surroundings, where Zira had won in 2017 but lost in the 2022 Assembly poll, his appointment signals the Congress’s intention to reinvigorate its local structure and shore up ground support ahead of future electoral battles.
