The Income Tax Department’s TDS Charge, Amritsar, organised an outreach seminar on the New Income Tax Act, 2025 and updated TDS/TCS provisions at Guru Nanak Dev University on Wednesday to enhance awareness and ensure better statutory compliance among stakeholders.
The seminar was addressed by Bhupinder Singh, IRS, Joint Commissioner of Income Tax, Range-TDS, Ludhiana, and Vikas Kumar, Income Tax Officer, TDS Charge, Amritsar. The officers explained the key features of the New Income Tax Act, recent amendments, newly introduced TDS and TCS sections, and the procedural requirements for tax deduction and collection.
The programme primarily targeted Drawing and Disbursing Officers (DDOs) and other stakeholders, aiming to improve accuracy in tax-related processes, reduce procedural errors, and promote timely compliance. The speakers also cautioned participants about the consequences of non-compliance and defaults under TDS and TCS provisions.
An interactive session followed, during which participants raised queries and sought clarifications directly from the officials. Addressing the gathering, Joint Commissioner Bhupinder Singh said the seminar focused on capacity building by equipping stakeholders with comprehensive knowledge of new tax provisions, in line with the Central Board of Direct Taxes’ ‘Capacity Building of Stakeholders’ initiative.
The seminar formed part of the Income Tax Department’s ongoing outreach efforts with educational institutions to promote informed tax practices and strengthen public awareness about taxation and compliance.
