DREA Approves New Computer Centre, Reopens Raikot Facility to Boost Digital Literacy

The Governing Body of the District Rural Education Academy (DREA) Society on Tuesday approved key decisions aimed at strengthening digital education facilities in the district during a meeting chaired by Additional Deputy Commissioner (Rural Development) Amarjit Bains.
The meeting, held on January 27, focused on improving the functioning and outreach of the DREA Society, which works to promote skill development and computer education in rural areas. Senior district officers reviewed existing infrastructure and discussed plans to expand access to computer training.
One of the major decisions taken during the meeting was the opening of a new computer centre under the DREA Society at the Community Centre in Sector-32 on Chandigarh Road. The proposed centre is expected to cater to students and youth from nearby areas and enhance digital literacy.
The Governing Body also approved the re-opening of the computer centre located at the SDM Office, Raikot, which had remained non-operational. The move is aimed at restoring training facilities for local residents and ensuring better utilisation of existing resources.
Payal Goyal, SDM Raikot, and Aman Gupta, Estate Officer, GLADA, along with other concerned officers, attended the meeting and shared their inputs on implementation timelines. The chair directed the concerned departments to take necessary steps to ensure timely execution of the approved proposals.
The meeting concluded with an emphasis on coordinated inter-departmental efforts to ensure the smooth and effective implementation of the decisions taken by the Governing Body.
