The Municipal Corporation (MC) Ludhiana has stepped up road repair works across the city by deploying modern machinery, including Infrared Pothole Repair Machines, to tackle potholes more quickly and efficiently.
To review the ongoing work, MC Commissioner Dr Neeru Katyal Gupta inspected repair operations at Mall Road, near the BRS Nagar canal bridge, Focal Point, and other parts of the city on Thursday.
The civic body has also put its hot mix plant into full-capacity operation to accelerate repairs and improve the pace of road maintenance in several areas.
During the inspection, Dr Gupta directed officials to ensure that no compromise is made on the quality of work. She also asked them to complete the repair works efficiently and within a reasonable timeframe.
Joint Commissioner Vineet Kumar, Superintending Engineer Sham Lal Gupta, SE Praveen Singla, and other MC officials accompanied the Commissioner during the inspection.
Dr Gupta said the civic body is carrying out the repair drive under the guidance of Local Bodies Minister Sanjeev Arora and has introduced modern technology to make pothole repairs more effective.
She added that the Municipal Corporation is regularly monitoring development works underway in different parts of Ludhiana and has issued strict instructions to officials to speed up execution.
Apart from pothole repairs, the MC is also taking up a large number of road reconstruction projects across the city. Dr Gupta said the authorities must complete these works within the stipulated period and warned that any negligence in quality or execution would not be tolerated.
