Minister Arora launches ₹4.10 crore road projects in Ludhiana West

Cabinet Minister Sanjeev Arora on Saturday launched road construction projects worth ₹4.10 crore across Ludhiana West, with the Punjab Government saying the works are part of a broader push to improve urban infrastructure and road connectivity in the state.
The projects will cover nearly 8 kilometres and include road and street construction in several wards of the constituency. The works have been planned in New BRS Nagar, Sham Nagar, New Sham Nagar, Rajguru Nagar, Sarabha Nagar, BRS Nagar, Officers Colony and adjoining areas of Rakh Bagh.
In Ward 56, the government has started street construction in New BRS Nagar, Sham Nagar and New Sham Nagar at an estimated cost of around ₹71 lakh. In Ward 58, authorities have initiated works worth about ₹96.89 lakh for roads in Block-J and Block-HJ of Rajguru Nagar, the road from Lodhi Club to Namdev Chowk, and a slip road near the underpass.
The government has also approved street construction in Block-E of BRS Nagar near Lodhi Club in Ward 57 at a cost of ₹55.77 lakh. Another project involves the development of the main road connecting the Municipal Corporation’s Zone-D office to Ferozepur Road in Sarabha Nagar (Ward 55) at an estimated cost of ₹73.08 lakh.
A separate project worth around ₹1.13 crore will cover the construction of streets in Officers Colony and adjoining areas of Rakh Bagh in Ward 71.
While launching the projects, Arora directed officials to complete the works on time and warned against any compromise on quality. He said contractors carrying out substandard work would be blacklisted and added that they would remain responsible for the maintenance of the roads for three years.
Arora said the state government is currently executing road infrastructure projects worth nearly ₹1300 crore across Municipal Corporations and Municipal Councils in Punjab. He added that departments such as the Public Works Department and Rural Development and Panchayats Department are also carrying out development works in their respective jurisdictions.
The minister was joined during the launch by Mayor Principal Inderjit Kaur, MC Commissioner Dr Neeru Katyal Gupta, senior Municipal Corporation officials, elected representatives and local residents.
