House-to-House Voter Verification Underway Ahead of Special Revision in Ludhiana

ETT News / Ludhiana
Deputy Commissioner-cum-District Election Officer Himanshu Jain has appealed to voters across Ludhiana to cooperate with Booth Level Officers (BLOs) conducting house-to-house verification as part of the pre-Special Intensive Revision (Pre-SIR) process aimed at updating and strengthening electoral records in the district.
Jain said the exercise is being carried out on the directions of the Election Commission of India and the Punjab Chief Electoral Officer, ahead of the likely launch of the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) later this month. As part of the preparation, election officials are matching and mapping names in the current electoral roll with the 2003 voter list to ensure records remain accurate and complete.
He said BLOs posted in different assembly constituencies are organizing special camps at polling booths and also visiting households to verify voter details. He urged residents to extend full support during the verification process and keep the required documents ready so that the mapping can be completed smoothly.
The Deputy Commissioner stressed that voters must ensure their names in the existing voter list are properly linked with the 2003 electoral roll, as this step is crucial for maintaining updated electoral data ahead of future elections.
He also informed that voters can check their details in the 2003 voter list through the Election Commission of India’s ECINET portal and the Chief Electoral Officer, Punjab’s official website. For any suggestions, complaints, or assistance related to the exercise, citizens can contact the Voter Helpline toll-free number 1950.
