Punjab Cabinet Minister Sanjeev Arora inaugurated multiple development projects worth ₹1.74 crore on Friday to strengthen urban infrastructure and promote sports among the city's youth. The initiatives include a multi-purpose sports park, the redevelopment of Vishwakarma Park, and a new sewer line project in SAS Nagar.

Arora opened a ₹91 lakh multi-purpose sports park near Children Day, located behind the Civil Hospital. Authorities transformed the site—which had remained a garbage dump for decades—into a modern facility featuring box cricket, pickleball, volleyball, and basketball grounds. The minister confirmed that residents will have free access to the facility and personally participated in sports activities with local youngsters during the ceremony.

Following this, the minister inaugurated the redeveloped Vishwakarma Park on Jaimal Singh Road. Completed at a cost of ₹38 lakh, the upgraded park now houses badminton and basketball courts designed to encourage fitness and healthy living in the community.

In a move to improve local sanitation, Arora also launched a ₹45 lakh project to lay sewer lines in Sahibzada Ajit Singh (SAS) Nagar. Situated behind the Dholewal military complex, this infrastructure upgrade aims to provide long-term relief to residents facing drainage issues.

Minister Arora stated that the Bhagwant Singh Mann-led government remains committed to sustainable development and the "Yudh Nashyan Virudh" anti-drug campaign. He emphasized that building quality sports infrastructure is a key strategy to engage youth in constructive activities.

Several officials attended the ceremonies, including MLAs Ashok Prashar Pappi and Kulwant Singh Sidhu, Mayor Inderjit Kaur, and MC Commissioner Dr. Neeru Katyal Gupta.
