The Municipal Corporation (MC) Ludhiana has intensified preparations for the upcoming Digital Census 2027, with Commissioner Dr Neeru Katyal Gupta directing officials to ensure there is no laxity in arrangements ahead of the exercise.
Chairing a meeting at the Zone D office in Sarabha Nagar on Thursday, Dr Gupta reviewed the ground-level readiness with senior officials and instructed them to make all necessary preparations in advance. She emphasized that officials must actively monitor the process and carry out their duties with full responsibility to ensure the smooth conduct of the census.
The first phase of the national census, which includes houselisting and housing, will begin from May 15. During this phase, enumerators will visit households and collect data by asking 33 questions related to housing conditions, family details, and availability of basic amenities.
Officials informed that the questionnaire will cover aspects such as building details, construction materials, condition and usage of the house, number of residents, and details of the head of the household. It will also include questions on water supply, electricity, sanitation facilities, cooking fuel, and ownership of assets like mobile phones, vehicles, and internet access.
Dr Gupta made it clear that any negligence in preparations will not be tolerated and urged all officers to remain vigilant. She also appealed to the public to cooperate with the administration during the survey to ensure accurate and efficient data collection.
