Ludhiana Mayor Inderjit Kaur Felicitates Sanitation Workers, Urges Public Support for Cleanliness

Mayor Principal Inderjit Kaur presented appreciation certificates to the sanitation staff of the Ludhiana Municipal Corporation on Monday to recognize their dedicated efforts in the city’s ongoing cleanliness drives. The felicitation ceremony, held at the zonal level, served as both a morale booster for frontline workers and a platform for the civic body to address the growing issue of public waste disposal.

During the event, Mayor Kaur emphasized that while the municipal staff remains committed to their duties, the goal of a truly clean Ludhiana remains unachievable without the active participation of its residents. She noted that the efficiency of the sanitation teams depends heavily on how citizens manage their household and commercial waste at the source.

The Mayor issued a direct appeal to the public to immediately cease the practice of dumping garbage in open spaces and vacant plots. She stressed that such actions negate the hard work of the sanitation crews and create persistent hygiene challenges for the entire community.

Residents are instead encouraged to hand over their waste directly to authorized door-to-door garbage collectors. For those who cannot meet the collectors, the Mayor advised using only the designated civic body dumping sites rather than unauthorized spots.

Highlighting the administrative support behind these initiatives, Mayor Kaur stated that the Municipal Corporation is operating under the specific guidance of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann and Local Bodies Minister Sanjeev Arora. She added that the administration is currently prioritizing various welfare schemes to ensure the well-being of the employees who maintain the city's infrastructure.
