Mayor Principal Inderjit Kaur and Ludhiana East MLA Daljit Singh Bhola Grewal on Sunday inaugurated a project worth about ₹95 lakh to install new water supply lines in Grewal Colony of Ward No. 13 to improve potable water supply for residents.
The Municipal Corporation Ludhiana started the project after residents raised concerns about the deteriorating condition of the old water supply pipelines in the area. Officials said the aging lines had developed faults over time, affecting the regular supply of clean drinking water.
Mayor Inderjit Kaur and MLA Grewal launched the project in the presence of local residents and volunteers. They said the civic body approved the replacement of the damaged pipelines after receiving repeated complaints from people living in the colony.
The leaders directed concerned officials to complete the work within the stipulated time so that residents can benefit from an improved water supply system at the earliest.
They added that the civic body is undertaking several development works across Ludhiana under the guidance of Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann and Local Bodies Minister Sanjeev Arora. These projects include the installation of new water and sewer lines, tubewells, and the reconstruction of roads to strengthen basic infrastructure in the city.
