Deputy Commissioner Himanshu Jain on Friday assured residents that Ludhiana has sufficient stock of LPG cylinders, petrol and diesel and appealed to the public to avoid panic buying amid rumours of shortages.

Chairing a meeting with petrol pump owners and LPG gas agency operators in the district, Jain said the supply chain is functioning smoothly and the administration is closely monitoring the availability of essential fuels. He urged citizens not to believe rumours, stating that unnecessary hoarding can create artificial shortages and inconvenience other consumers.

The Deputy Commissioner said the district administration has sought daily detailed reports on the stock and supply position of LPG cylinders, petrol and diesel to ensure uninterrupted availability across Ludhiana.

To prevent black marketing and illegal storage of LPG cylinders, the administration has constituted a high-powered committee under the chairmanship of Poonam Singh. The committee includes officials from Greater Ludhiana Area Development Authority, Municipal Corporation Ludhiana, the police department, the Excise and Taxation Department and the District Food and Civil Supplies Department.

The committee will monitor illegal storage and ensure that domestic LPG cylinders are not used for commercial purposes. Gas agencies have also been directed to keep their helpline numbers operational and provide offline booking facilities if residents face issues with online bookings.

Jain warned that the administration will take strict action against anyone involved in hoarding, black marketing or spreading misinformation about fuel shortages, and advised residents to rely only on official communication for updates regarding fuel availability in the district.
