The Municipal Corporation (MC) Ludhiana intensified its drive against illegal constructions on Thursday by sealing an unauthorized building spread over 600 square yards in Manna Singh Nagar and halting the development of an illegal colony in the Piru Banda area near Salem Tabri.
Acting on the directions of MC Commissioner Dr Neeru Katyal Gupta, officials of the building branch from the MC Zone A office carried out the enforcement action after identifying violations of building regulations.
According to civic officials, the illegal colony in Piru Banda was being developed across approximately 2,200 square yards. Authorities immediately stopped construction at the site and directed the owner to present the relevant approval documents to the municipal authorities.
In a separate action, officials sealed a building under construction in Manna Singh Nagar that was being developed in violation of the prescribed building bylaws. The structure, spread over about 600 square yards, was found to lack the necessary approvals from the civic body.
Municipal Corporation officials also urged residents to begin construction activities only after obtaining approved building plans from the civic body. They warned that strict action would continue against illegal constructions across the city to ensure compliance with building regulations.
