Punjab is set to witness a major boost in healthcare infrastructure as Sanjeev Arora announced that Livasa Hospitals will invest ₹360 crore to establish a new multi-speciality tertiary care hospital in Ludhiana, a move aimed at strengthening the state’s position as a healthcare hub in North India.

The minister said Livasa Hospitals has entered into a long-term agreement with Primewalk Infra Private Limited to develop a 368-bed hospital at Sherpur Chowk on the National Highway in Ludhiana. The facility, currently under construction, will become operational in phases over the next 18 months and will serve patients from Ludhiana as well as nearby districts.

Highlighting the scale of the project, Arora said the hospital will come up on over 9,500 square yards of freehold land with a built-up area of more than 2.3 lakh square feet. The Livasa Group will invest around ₹235 crore in the project, while the total investment will reach ₹360 crore including the landowner’s contribution. The project is supported by India Resurgence Fund, a joint venture between Piramal Group and Bain Capital.

Arora said the investment reflects strong institutional confidence in Punjab’s healthcare sector and economic potential. He added that the project will improve access to advanced medical treatment for residents, reducing the need for patients to travel to Delhi and other metropolitan cities for specialised care.

Livasa Hospitals already operates a network of hospitals in Mohali, Amritsar, SBS Nagar (Nawanshahr), Hoshiarpur and Khanna. With the Ludhiana expansion, the group plans to increase its total capacity in Punjab to nearly 2,000 beds, further strengthening the state’s advanced healthcare infrastructure.

Livasa Hospitals CEO Anurag Yadav said the hospital network currently provides technology-driven tertiary and quaternary healthcare across 38 medical specialities with more than 800 beds, 250 senior consultants, 280 ICU beds, 20 modular operation theatres and six advanced cath labs.

He said the hospital offers specialised services including cardiology and cardiac surgery, oncology and cancer care, neurology and neurosurgery, robotic orthopaedic surgeries and joint replacements, gastroenterology and liver care, kidney transplants and nephrology, along with 24×7 critical and emergency care.

Arora said the upcoming hospital will also create hundreds of skilled and semi-skilled jobs in the healthcare sector for the youth of Punjab. He reiterated that the Punjab government remains committed to building a robust healthcare ecosystem by encouraging investments in modern medical infrastructure, advanced technology and quality clinical services, which will further position the state as a regional medical hub in North India.
