The Municipal Corporation (MC) Ludhiana celebrated International Women’s Day on Sunday by honoring women sanitation workers and achievers for their contributions to society and community cleanliness.

The civic body organized several events across the city under the guidance of Mayor Principal Inderjit Kaur and MC Commissioner Dr Neeru Katyal Gupta. During the programmes, officials and partner organizations felicitated women sanitation staff, waste collectors, students, and volunteers with certificates of appreciation for their dedication and service.

MC officials said the celebrations followed the guidelines issued by the Punjab Government and the Punjab Municipal Infrastructure Development Company (PMIDC) to recognize the role of women in sanitation and community development. The activities were coordinated by teams led by CSO Ashwani Sahota, Health Officer Dr Vipal Malhotra, and members of the Swachh Bharat Mission staff.

Self-help groups, colleges, non-governmental organizations, and other stakeholders joined the initiative. Partner NGOs including Green Venus Wing, Switch for Change, and Jeet Foundation participated in honoring sanitation workers, women achievers, as well as NSS and NCC volunteers who contributed to cleanliness drives and awareness campaigns.

Mayor Principal Inderjit Kaur and MC Commissioner Dr Neeru Katyal Gupta praised the resilience, strength, and dedication of women and emphasized their vital role in maintaining sanitation and strengthening society.
