Breaking: NCB raid underway in Amritsar at properties linked to NRI Laddi Cheena

In a major crackdown on Punjab-linked international drug networks, the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) is conducting searches at two properties in Amritsar linked to Canada-based NRI Amrinder Singh Chhina alias Laddi Cheena. Notably Interpol had issued red corner notice against Chhina in Jagdish Bhola mega drug racket.
According to information available from highly placed sources, NCB teams began search operations on Tuesday
(April 7th , 2026) evening at Chhina’s ancestral house in Rajasansi village and another residence in Sandhu Colony in Amritsar. The operation is understood to be aimed at tracing evidence linked to suspected holdings, trafficking operations and local links associated with the alleged network.

Chhina a Canadian citizen with roots in Punjab'a Ajnala has long figured in investigations into transnational narcotics trafficking and is believed to have links with networks involved in the pushing of various types of drugs into Punjab and other parts of India. His name is said to have figured in several investigations into narcotics syndicates allegedly operating across United States, Mexico, Canada, Mexico, Australia and several Indian states.
Among those associated with Chhina was Jimi Sandhu, known by the aliases Slice and Jimmy Singh Sandhu, who was linked to Vancouver’s United Nations Gang. Slice was deported from Canada over serious criminal allegations and after his return to India he was arrested by DRI for his alleged involvement in running a facility in Goa, where foreign nationals were allegedly processing raw ketamine. After obtaining bail, Sandhu travelled to Thailand, where he was killed outside a Phuket hotel in 2022.
The latest NCB action in Amritsar reflects a sustained multi-agency effort to target Punjab-linked narcotics cartels, pursue Chhina’s extradition and break larger international supply chains.
