Khanna Police Bust Fake Dope Test and Medical Certificate Racket, Two Held

Khanna Police have busted a racket involved in preparing fake dope test reports and forged medical certificates, arresting two accused and recovering a large number of counterfeit stamps, OPD slips, Aadhaar cards and other suspicious documents.
Acting on a complaint lodged by the Senior Medical Officer of Civil Hospital, Khanna, police registered a case under various sections at City-2 Police Station on March 27 and launched an investigation. The operation was carried out under the directions of Senior Superintendent of Police Dr. Darpan Ahluwalia as part of a special drive against criminal elements.
Police said the racket allegedly revolved around the preparation of forged dope test reports and fake medical certificates using fabricated hospital seals and official-looking documents. The accused were allegedly producing documents that appeared to be issued by Civil Hospital, Khanna.
During the probe, police first arrested Ramesh Kumar alias Tony, a resident of Ludhiana, on March 28. His interrogation led investigators to another accused, Manchit Kumar, a resident of Khanna, who was later nominated in the case and arrested on March 30.
Police recovered several fake rubber stamps allegedly linked to Civil Hospital, Khanna, including seals in the names of the dope test section, medical officer, SMO office and doctors. Investigators also seized OPD slips of Punjab Health Systems Corporation, stamp pads, pens, 27 Aadhaar cards, one PAN card and one driving licence.
Officials said the recovery indicates that the accused may have been running a well-organised forgery operation. Police are continuing to question both accused and expect more important disclosures during further investigation.
The arrested accused have been identified as Ramesh Kumar alias Tony of Ludhiana and Manchit Kumar of Khanna. Police said efforts are underway to determine whether more people were involved in the racket and who may have used the forged documents.
