Khanna Police Arrest Two in Gurdaspur Firing Case, Recover Heroin

The Khanna Police have apprehended a key operative involved in a high-profile shooting targeting the grandson of a former MLA in Gurdaspur. The arrest was made during a targeted crackdown on gangsters and anti-social elements conducted under the guidance of DIG Satinder Singh and SSP Dr. Darpan Ahluwalia.

The breakthrough occurred on March 13, 2026, when a police party led by ASI Devinder Singh intercepted a suspicious individual near the ITI bridge in Samrala. The suspect, identified as 23-year-old Gautam, a resident of Hariu Kala, was found in possession of 10 grams of heroin. Following his arrest, a case was registered under the NDPS Act at the Samrala Police Station.

During intensive interrogation, Gautam revealed that he procured the narcotics from Gursaheb Singh, also known as Sahab, a resident of Dostpur in Gurdaspur district. Police officials identified Gursaheb Singh as a major drug supplier operating across various districts, leading to his subsequent arrest on March 24, 2026.

Investigations into Gursaheb Singh’s background uncovered his involvement in a violent extortion attempt in Ghuman Kala. Acting on instructions from handlers based abroad, Gursaheb and his accomplices allegedly opened fire on Pahaljit Singh, the grandson of a former MLA, after a ransom demand was made. The victim sustained injuries during the attack.

Gursaheb Singh was previously declared a fugitive in connection with the shooting and faces multiple charges under the Arms Act and BNS. His criminal record includes at least five prior cases involving kidnapping, illegal weapons, and drug trafficking across Gurdaspur, Batala, and Amritsar.

The operation was supervised by SP (I) Pawanjit and DSP (I) Mohit Kumar Singla, with CIA In-charge Inspector Jashanpreet Singh leading the field team. Police officials stated that further questioning is underway, and they expect to uncover more details regarding the network of international handlers directing these criminal activities.
