The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has arrested two head constables posted at Sultanpuri Police Station in Delhi for allegedly demanding and accepting a bribe of ₹20,000 from a complainant to allow him to continue online betting activities.
The agency registered the case on March 13, 2026, after receiving a complaint that the accused police personnel had demanded illegal gratification from the complainant in exchange for not taking action against his online betting operations.
Acting on the complaint, CBI officials laid a trap the same day and caught both accused red-handed while accepting the bribe amount of ₹20,000. The agency immediately arrested the two head constables following the successful trap operation.
The investigation agency said further investigation in the case is currently underway.
The CBI also reiterated its commitment to act firmly against corruption among public servants and urged citizens to report any instances of bribery or demands for illegal gratification by government officials.
