Ludhiana Police Conduct Special Drive Near BCM School, 27 Challans Issued

The Ludhiana Police on Monday conducted a special enforcement and checking drive outside the tuition market near BCM School in Shastri Nagar to curb traffic violations and ensure the safety of students, particularly female students, frequenting the busy educational hub.
The drive was carried out under the leadership of Commissioner of Police Swapan Sharma (IPS) and was led on the ground by ADCP Traffic Gurpreet Kaur Purewal along with teams from the Traffic Police. The initiative aimed to maintain public order, prevent anti-social activities and enforce traffic rules in areas where large numbers of students gather.
During the operation, the police issued 27 challans for various violations and impounded one vehicle. Among the violations, 18 challans were issued for riding without helmets, three for triple riding, one for using a modified silencer on a Bullet motorcycle and one for driving a modified vehicle.
Police teams also monitored the area to deter eve-teasing and warned individuals found loitering near tuition centres without a valid reason to ensure a safe passage for female students.
The officers conducted strict inspections of motorcycles fitted with modified silencers that produce loud “firecracker-like” sounds, which often disturb the academic environment around educational institutions.
The police also inspected street vendors and carts stationed near the tuition market to ensure that no illegal substances or contraband items were being sold to students.
Speaking on the occasion, ADCP Traffic Gurpreet Kaur Purewal said the primary objective of the drive was to create a safe and fearless environment for students and send a clear message that nuisance-causing behaviour and traffic violations would not be tolerated.
She added that similar surprise checking drives would continue across educational hubs in Ludhiana. The Ludhiana Police also appealed to the public to follow traffic regulations and report any suspicious activity or harassment through official helpline numbers.
