In a major crackdown against street crime, the Ludhiana Police on Thursday arrested five members of a criminal gang and recovered three motorcycles and four sharp-edged weapons following a tip-off. The operation was carried out by the Mundian Kalan police post under the jurisdiction of Jamalpur Police Station, following the strategic directives of Commissioner of Police Swapan Sharma and DCP (Rural) Jaskiranjit Singh Teja.

The police identified the arrested suspects as Sahil Singh Chadha alias Lala, Jagjit Singh alias Jeeta, Anmolratan Singh alias Anmol, Mohit, and Karamjit Singh alias Kammu, all residents of different localities across Ludhiana. Acting on specific intelligence, the police team led by ADCP Zone-4 Jashandeep Singh and ACP Inderjit Singh intercepted the group and seized the incriminating weapons and vehicles used in their operations.

Officials confirmed that a case has been registered under Sections 310(4), 310(5), and 317(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) at the Jamalpur Police Station. While five suspects are in custody, a sixth accomplice identified as Paras Singh, a resident of Phillaur who already faces five prior cases of theft and snatching, managed to escape the scene during the raid.

The Ludhiana Police have produced the five arrested men before a local court and secured their police remand for further interrogation. Investigators are currently conducting raids to nab the fleeing suspect and are questioning the gang members to determine their involvement in other recent snatching and robbery incidents across the city.
