Ludhiana Deputy Commissioner Himanshu Jain held a high-level meeting on April 13 to personally address the persistent challenges faced by the local business community, directing district officials to resolve all pending issues on a priority basis. The session, held at the district administrative complex, aimed to bridge the gap between the administration and the trading sector to foster a more business-friendly environment in the city.
The meeting took place in the presence of Additional Deputy Commissioner Poonam Singh and senior administrative officers. Various representatives from the Punjab State Trade Commission, including Joint Secretary Rajinder Singh, Zone Secretary Sahil Aggarwal, and Chairman Parampal Bawa, participated to voice the specific concerns of their respective constituencies.
Deputy Commissioner Jain instructed officials to expedite the processing of GST refunds, which remains a primary concern for local entrepreneurs. He emphasized that financial liquidity is crucial for trade and that administrative delays in tax processing must be eliminated immediately to support the local economy.
The Deputy Commissioner further tackled urban infrastructure issues, ordering the prompt removal of hanging electrical wires and the mitigation of traffic congestion in narrow commercial lanes. He also directed the relevant departments to find a permanent solution for the stray cattle menace, which traders identified as a significant hindrance to daily business operations.
To ensure better service delivery, the administration has already established a "single-window" system to provide multiple administrative services under one roof. Jain noted that this initiative is designed to save the valuable time of the business community and reduce the need for multiple visits to government offices.
Concluding the meeting, the Deputy Commissioner issued a stern warning against the practice of raising unnecessary objections on trader applications. He stated that the administration would not tolerate negligence or deliberate delays, and any official found guilty of harassing traders through bureaucratic red tape would face strict disciplinary action.
