IT Survey Concludes at Prominent Ludhiana Garment Retail Group; Three Stores Covered

The Income Tax Department’s survey at prominent garment retail chain based in Ludhiana, concluded on Friday late evening after officials carried out simultaneous action at three outlets of the same group. The group deals in several ranges of garments and traditional clothing for women, men and kids.
The survey, conducted under the directions of Chief Commissioner of Income Tax (Amritsar), IRS Dr. G.S Phani Kishore, had commenced on Thursday afternoon at stores operating under the name Saluja Mom & Me, Saluja And Style in Ghumar Mandi, Jawahar Nagar Camp and BRS Nagar markets of the city. More than 35 officials and staff members of the department, along with police personnel, were involved in the operation.
The teams, formed under the supervision of Principal Commissioner of Income Tax IRS Vivek Nangia, were led by Additional Commissioner IRS Dr Rishi Kumar and Deputy Commissioners IRS Jatin Abbi and IRS Virender Kumar.
According to sources, owners allegedly agreed to surrender (voluntary declare) certain amount of undisclosed income. However, no official confirmation was available from the department regarding the same, till the time of filing of this report.
Sources further indicated that the department has detected several discrepancies relating to stock, turnover and other financial matters. Officials are learnt to be analysing the material gathered during the survey, following which the exact tax implication will be ascertained.
