Punjab Excise & Taxation Dept Clears ₹226.86 Crore GST Refunds in First Half of December

The Excise and Taxation Department of Punjab has fast-tracked the clearance of Goods and Services Tax (GST) refund claims, sanctioning a total of ₹226.86 crore within the first 16 days of December 2025. This "mission-mode" initiative aims to provide critical financial liquidity to the state's trading and business community by ensuring the timely release of eligible funds.

The department issued 799 refund orders between December 1 and December 16 to address pending claims across the state. Statistics reveal that officials sanctioned ₹193.01 crore for State GST (SGST) refunds across 581 cases, while the remaining ₹33.85 crore covered Central GST (CGST) refunds in 218 cases.

Taxation officials are currently monitoring the progress of these sanctions at both the district and departmental levels to eliminate administrative delays. The department has identified transparency and efficiency in refund processing as its highest priorities, launching this focused drive to prevent any backlog of eligible taxpayer claims.
