Punjab Congress president Amarinder Singh Raja Warring on Sunday launched a sharp attack on the Aam Aadmi Party government in Punjab, alleging that the state is witnessing complete lawlessness and anarchy under its rule. He said the government had lost the moral authority to continue and warned it to either “act or abdicate.”

Reacting to the recent riot and arson inside the Kapurthala jail and the killing of a Punjab Police Assistant Sub-Inspector in Amritsar, Warring claimed that criminals and gangsters were operating freely across the state without fear of law. He said the incidents reflected the failure of the state government to maintain law and order.

Referring to the violence inside the Kapurthala jail, Warring said the incident exposed the government’s inability to control even high-security prison premises. He alleged that the large-scale violence and arson by inmates showed either incompetence or a lack of will among those responsible for maintaining security.

The Congress leader also expressed concern over the killing of the ASI in Amritsar while he was reportedly on his way to duty. He said if police personnel themselves were not safe from criminals and gangsters, ordinary citizens would naturally feel insecure.

Warring maintained that the recurring incidents of violence and crime had created fear among people and demonstrated the collapse of governance in Punjab.
