Firozabad Horror: Man Kills Toddler After Widow Rejects Marriage Proposal

A 28-year-old man was arrested in Firozabad, Uttar Pradesh, on Thursday following a violent confrontation with police, days after he allegedly murdered a 1.5-year-old boy whose mother had rejected his marriage proposal. The accused, identified as Jitendra Pathak, allegedly told investigators that he viewed the child as the primary obstacle to marrying the woman.
According to police, Pathak allegedly abducted the toddler after luring him away from his home on the pretext of buying sweets. When the child failed to return, his family launched a frantic search and later approached the police. The investigation took a tragic turn when officers recovered the boy's body, triggering an intensive manhunt for the suspect.
On Thursday, police intercepted Pathak near the Bhudha Bharthara intersection. When officers attempted to apprehend him, he allegedly opened fire, leading to a brief exchange of gunfire. Police returned fire, striking him in the leg before taking him into custody. He is currently undergoing medical treatment under police supervision.
Authorities said Pathak had allegedly been stalking the woman and repeatedly pressuring her to marry him. The woman, a widow, had consistently rejected his advances, reportedly telling him that her sole focus was raising her young son. Police have booked the accused for murder and are continuing their investigation.
