Ludhiana MC Chief Ojasvi Alankar Reviews Tajpur Dump Site, Pushes Faster Waste Disposal

Municipal Corporation Commissioner Ojasvi Alankar on Wednesday inspected the civic body's main dump site on Tajpur Road and directed officials to expedite key solid waste management projects aimed at clearing nearly 20 lakh metric tonnes of legacy waste and managing the city's daily garbage generation.
During the inspection, Alankar reviewed the progress of ongoing projects at the dump site and stressed the need for faster execution to improve waste disposal in Ludhiana. He also instructed officials to ensure uninterrupted access to the site during the upcoming monsoon season.
The Commissioner issued stern directions to maintain the approach road leading to the dump site so that waste transportation operations are not affected by rain. He emphasized that proper infrastructure and planning are essential for the smooth functioning of waste management activities.
Accompanied by Joint Commissioner Vineet Kumar, Superintending Engineers Sham Lal Gupta and Praveen Singla, and Executive Engineer Arvind Kumar, Alankar assessed the ground situation and discussed measures to strengthen solid waste management in the city.
Speaking during the visit, Alankar said the Municipal Corporation is implementing a comprehensive waste management plan under Mission Clean Punjab, a statewide initiative led by Local Bodies Minister Harjot Singh Bains. He added that the civic body is working simultaneously on the disposal of legacy waste and the management of fresh waste generated every day.
The Commissioner said the MC has also intensified preparations for the monsoon season and is taking preventive measures to avoid civic issues. Senior officials are regularly monitoring developments on the ground and gathering feedback from residents to improve services.
Appealing for public participation, Alankar urged residents not to dump garbage in open areas and to cooperate with the authorities in maintaining cleanliness across the city.
