The Municipal Corporation (MC) Ludhiana demolished two under-construction illegal colonies in Zone B on Monday as part of its ongoing drive against unauthorized developments in the city.

Acting on the directions of MC Commissioner Dr. Neeru Katyal Gupta, the civic body's building branch carried out the demolition at Sukhdev Nagar and near Trikona Park behind Onkar Vihar. Officials said the colonies were being developed without the required approvals from the corporation.

Assistant Town Planner (ATP) Zone B, Nirwan, said the owners continued construction activities despite repeated warnings issued by the MC. Following the violations, the corporation initiated demolition proceedings and removed the unauthorized structures.

The ATP urged residents to verify the legal status of colonies before investing in any property. He advised prospective buyers to visit the concerned zonal offices of the Municipal Corporation to check whether a colony has received the necessary approvals.

Meanwhile, civic officials reiterated that property owners must obtain approval of building plans before starting any construction work. They warned that the corporation would continue taking strict action against illegal constructions and unauthorized colonies to ensure planned urban development across Ludhiana.
