District administration Ludhiana, The Indian Army, NDRF and villagers are working in unison to strengthen the Dhussi Bandh at Sasrali colony in Ludhiana, ensuring protection against the rising river waters.
Cabinet Minister Hardeep Singh Mundian and Deputy Commissioner IAS Himanshu Jain inspected the site on Thursday. To reinforce the embankment, they ordered large quantities of stone boulders, sand, soil, and iron mesh, supported by heavy machinery including JCBs and Poclains.
Officials underlined that no breach has occurred so far. The strengthening work is precautionary, given the high velocity of the river water. Teams of the Army, NDRF, administration, and villagers remain deployed around the clock to monitor and fortify the structure.
Issuing a clear message to the public, Deputy Commissioner Himanshu Jain cautioned residents not to believe in rumours and to rely only on official updates from the administration. “The situation is under continuous watch. Additional resources will be mobilised if needed, and the safety of residents remains our top priority,” he said, while commending the villagers for their dedicated support on-site.
Residents of Sasrali colony have been put on alert as a precaution. At the same time, Cabinet Minister Mundian lauded the spirit of the local people who are standing shoulder to shoulder with the authorities in strengthening the Bandh.
Later in the day, Commissioner of Police Swapan Sharma also reached the site and inspected the ongoing work, reinforcing the administration’s commitment to safeguard the area.
With the combined efforts of the Army, NDRF, administration, and local villagers, the authorities reiterated there is no cause for panic, and urged citizens to ignore false messages that spread fear.
