AAP Women Wing’s Malwa Central Zone In-charge Ajinder Kaur slams centre government

ETT News / Ludhiana

In a sharp escalation of political protest, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has launched a statewide "Nukkad Rosh March" to oppose the Central Government’s decision to cancel ration cards of approximately 55 lakh families in Punjab. The party alleges that this move carried out under the guise of mandatory KYC (Know Your Customer) updates is a direct attack on economically weaker sections.

The protest, organized by AAP Women Wing’s Malwa Central Zone In-charge Ajinder Kaur, Municipal Councillor Master Satnam Sunny in Ludhiana’s Ward No. 58, saw hundreds of party workers braving heavy rain to raise awareness. Protestors also distributed an open letter from Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann to local residents.

AAP Accuses Centre of Bias Against Punjab

Addressing the gathering, Ajinder Kaur lashed out at the BJP-led Central Government, calling its latest policy a “Nadirshahi decree” aimed at depriving Punjab’s underprivileged families of their rightful access to subsidized rations.

“The Modi government is hell-bent on destroying economically weak families,” Kaur said. “Punjab has always faced step-motherly treatment from the Centre, and since the AAP came to power in the state, development schemes have been deliberately obstructed.”

Kaur further alleged that while previous governments, including the Akali-BJP coalition and the Congress-led administration, distributed ration cards to the well-connected and financially stable, the AAP government had undertaken a verification drive to ensure that only the truly needy benefit from state welfare schemes.

“Now, in the name of KYC, the Centre is trying to cancel ration cards of lakhs of genuinely needy families. This is nothing but a conspiracy to usurp their rights,” she added.

Prominent Leaders Join the Protest

The event saw participation from several key AAP leaders and local representatives, including Shri Hindu Takht’s Chief State Campaigner Varun Mehta, District Women In-charge Manisha Kapoor, Assembly Coordinator Baljinder Kaur, Block Presidents Amandeep Kaur and Kamlesh Rani, among others.
