The district administration has completed elaborate security and logistical arrangements for the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) Civil Services Preliminary Examination, which will be conducted at 14 centres across Ludhiana on May 24. A total of 4,353 candidates will appear for the examination.

The examination will take place in two sessions, with Paper-I scheduled from 9:30 am to 11:30 am and Paper-II from 2:30 pm to 4:30 pm. Authorities have installed jammers at all examination centres to prevent the use of unfair means and ensure transparency during the examination process.

The administration has arranged security, transportation, seating facilities, drinking water, uninterrupted electricity supply and medical assistance for candidates. Officials said the preparations aim to ensure the smooth and fair conduct of the examination at all venues.

The designated centres include DCM Presidency School on Chandigarh Road, MGM Public School in Dugri, Bhartiya Vidya Mandir Senior Secondary School in Kitchlu Nagar, RS Model Senior Secondary School in Model Town and Government College for Girls at Rakh Bagh. Other venues include SCD Government College, SDP College for Women, Khalsa College for Women, Malwa Central College of Education for Women, School of Eminence and Guru Nanak Dev Engineering College (MBA Block).

SDM Jasleen Kaur Bhullar directed officials to ensure that the examination is conducted without any discrepancy. She said supervisors, assistant supervisors, venue supervisors, local inspecting officers and police personnel had already been briefed about their duties and responsibilities.

Candidates will be allowed to enter the centres one-and-a-half hours before the commencement of the examination. Authorities stated that all centre gates will close sharply at 9 am and no candidate will be permitted entry after the deadline.

Police personnel, including male and female officers, will remain deployed at all centres, while frisking of candidates will be carried out before entry into the examination halls.

Officials also reiterated that candidates will not be allowed to carry electronic devices such as mobile phones, smart watches, Bluetooth devices, pagers, cameras and pen drives inside the centres. While simple wristwatches are permitted, authorities warned that smart watches or communication-enabled accessories are strictly prohibited and violations could lead to disciplinary action, including debarment from future examinations.
