Deputy Commissioner Himanshu Jain, IAS, on Tuesday chaired a high-level meeting to initiate the establishment of a District Project Management Unit (DPMU) aimed at improving learning outcomes in government schools across the district.

The Deputy Commissioner said the DPMU would function as a central mechanism for data-driven planning, monitoring and execution of education reforms, with a clear focus on accountability and measurable results. He stressed that foundational literacy and numeracy must remain the top priority, adding that classroom-level interventions should lead to visible academic improvement among students.

During the meeting, officials discussed mechanisms to track students’ academic proficiency and reviewed ways to scale up initiatives such as Bal Sansad, vocational internships and learning outcome–based academic interventions. The emphasis, the DC noted, would be on regular assessment and timely corrective measures.

It was also decided to establish Block Project Management Units (BPMUs) at the block level to closely monitor student learning outcomes and ensure effective implementation of all academic initiatives. These units will work in coordination with the DPMU to strengthen governance and improve the quality of education delivery.

The meeting was attended by DEO (SE) Dimple Madan, Deputy DEO (SE) Amandeep Singh, CGO Ambar Bandopadhyay, DDF Joseph Jais, DRC (SE) Jasvir Singh, DRC (EE) Manmeet Singh, Education Coordinator Mahabub and all Block Resource Coordinators.
