The Khanna police launched a massive crackdown against organized crime and drug trafficking on Monday, detaining 125 suspicious individuals and seizing a significant haul of narcotics and cash during the first day of "Operation Prahar–2."

Led by Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Dr. Darpan Ahluwalia, multiple police teams executed simultaneous raids at 151 locations across the Khanna, Payal, and Samrala sub-divisions. The coordinated action targeted known hideouts of gangsters and drug peddlers as part of a 72-hour statewide campaign initiated by the Punjab government.

The operation resulted in the arrest of three active gangsters and 45 wanted criminals. Officers also apprehended two proclaimed offenders and detained 46 individuals under preventive action, while 29 others remain in custody for questioning regarding their links to local criminal networks.

Police teams recovered 321.15 grams of heroin, one kilogram of opium, and 60 intoxicant capsules during the searches. In addition to the drugs, officials seized ₹4 lakh in suspected drug money and three cartons of illicit liquor, marking a significant blow to the financial operations of illegal traffickers in the region.

The sweep also yielded several items used in criminal activities, including a vehicle, four live cartridges, and eight high-end mobile phones. Investigators are currently scanning the recovered devices and a smartwatch for forensic evidence to trace further links to organized crime syndicates.

SSP Dr. Darpan Ahluwalia stated that the operation follows the strict "zero-tolerance" policy against drugs and crime mandated by Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann and DGP Gaurav Yadav. She emphasized that the police force will continue these intensive field operations to ensure the district remains safe and drug-free.

Local residents have welcomed the heavy police presence and the swift arrests, noting that the crackdown has instilled a sense of security in the community. The Khanna police confirmed that they will maintain heightened surveillance and continue raids through the duration of the 72-hour operation.
